With the holidays just around the corner, we know you’ll be celebrating not just once or twice but probably 5 or 6 times. You’ll have potlucks at work, maybe a ‘Friendsgiving’, and multiple family dinners to be able to see everyone. A lot of reasons to eat high fat and high carb foods but you can still eat right this holiday season.
Bring a Healthy Dish to Share
Heading to a potluck or family dinner where you’re required to bring a dish to share? Bring a fun and healthy choice like Roasted Butternut Squash or a Fresh Corn and Zucchini Saute (P.S. just click the dish to get the recipe!).
Pick Your Veggies First
Most large gatherings serve the meal “buffet style” giving you the chance to walk the line and observe the wonderful creations made by loved ones. But with one plate and a lot of options, your plate fills up fast. Pick your veggies and fruits first! Still have room? Take a sampling of one or two dishes but try not to go overboard – you still have dessert to conquer!
Eat Slowly and Enjoy Your Friends and Family!
The holidays are about celebrating what you’re thankful for and catching up with old friends and family who lives far away. Take the time to talk to them over dinner. Since you’ll be eating slower, you’ll be able to stop when you start to feel full and won’t over eat. If you really enjoyed a dish, asked for the recipe so you can make it another time!
